It is with pleasure that I extend an invitation to you to join SCL at its 2025 conference being held at Tākina Wellington Convention Centre on 26-27 June 2025.
In the nearly 18 months since our 2023 Conference – From Surviving to Thriving – change has been the order of the day. A new government is considering ways to reform governance of the building sector. Developments in case law are requiring construction professionals to reassess their roles and obligations. Fall-out from the rain events of 2023 and increasing concerns regarding climate change are both testing the limits of insurers’ appetite for risk and leading to potentially transformational approaches to where and how we build in Aotearoa New Zealand.
Our conference theme New directions: navigating the changing construction landscape seeks to encourage an exploration of issues of this kind.
We will be looking for abstracts that explore, for example, climate change to digitisation to new delivery models to the impact of legislative, regulatory and case law changes on the way our buildings and infrastructure are designed and built – new concepts and directions that are being pursued within construction law and the construction sector as we move towards the 3rd decade of the 21st century.
SCL’s conference will be of interest not just to lawyers but to the professions that intersect with construction law – architects, surveyors and quantity surveyors, project managers, construction clients, developers, insurance practitioners and engineers.
